Sole Supports is excited to announce a new option for treatment of leg length discrepancy. We are now offering full‐foot lifts, made of an easily cleanable,
non‐compressible vinyl, available in 1mm peelable increments. We are able to offer them at the very competitive price of $15 per lift, to Sole Supports customers only. Each lift consists of six, one‐millimeter layers of vinyl that allow you to adjust the height of the lift to suit your patient’s needs. They are available in a wide range of both men’s and women’s sizes.
Benefits over Heel Lifts
Using our new full foot lifts you can correct for leg length inequalities or discrepancies without changing ankle angulation or increasing plantar flexion of the foot. With a full‐foot lift the foot remains level, the leg is lifted as a platform, and changes in forefoot pressure and heel cord tightness that result because of ankle plantar flexion are avoided. Full‐foot lifts are used to address both acquired or functional leg length discrepancies, as well as anatomical discrepancies.

How much lift is needed with a full‐foot lift vs. a heel lift?
In general, for a given leg length discrepancy less thickness is required with a full foot lift when compared to a heel lift. The extra thickness required with a heel lift is a result of the slope of the lift as it tapers towards the toes. This is not necessary with a full‐foot lift because the metatarsal heads are lifted as well. A general guideline is that you will need 1/3 less thickness in a full‐foot lift than would be required in a heel lift to correct the same deficiency. This guideline is dependent on your clinical measurements and preferences, and the lift can be adjusted by simply peeling away layers to suit your patient’s needs.

Sizing
Please see our sizing chart to determine the size of lift to be ordered. Note that the actual length of the lift (in inches) is provided for the various sizes, which can be compared directly to the insert of the patient’s shoe to ensure an accurate order.
Can they be adjusted in my office?

Yes, although the lifts are designed to fit in most shoes, some trimming may be required to obtain optimal fit. When less height is desired in the forefoot area to make room in the toe box of the shoe, the lift can be graduated back to the metatarsal heads by using scissors to cut back successive layers of vinyl in incremental steps. For issues with width or length, the insert or Sole Supports orthotic from your patient’s shoe can be removed and used as a guide to cut the lift. The lift will be easiest to cut in 1mm layers with scissors, and the vinyl layers will self‐stick to each other when you are finished cutting.

SIZING CHART:

Please note: Many different sizing standards exist. Sizing between shoe manufacturers varies considerably, sometimes as much as two shoe sizes. In addition, your patient’s feet may fit differently in different shoe brands and sizes, sometimes requiring more room in the toe box. The actual lengths (in inches) of the lifts are provided in the table above. To ensure the most accurate sizing please compare the “Actual Length” in the above chart to the length of the patient’s shoe insert and order appropriately.

The above chart is provided as a guide for practitioners. Lifts may be trimmed and cut to fit upon receipt. No returns or exchanges can be accepted for erroneous size orders.

When less height is desired in the forefoot area, the lift can be graduated by using scissors to cut back successive layers of vinyl (figure 1).
